Welcome, and thank you for your interest in wanting to join Solon Sportsmen’s Association (SSA). As a private club, membership is required to access our facilities and participate in club activities.
Annual dues are $240.19, which includes $225.00 in base dues and $15.19 in tax. This breaks down to less than $21.00 per month. In addition, there is a one-time initiation fee of $100.00 (not subject to tax). Members are also required to contribute 8 hours of approved work per year.
Work hours can be fulfilled by participating in scheduled work parties at the club. If the full 8-hour requirement is not met, a work party assessment of $25.00 per hour will be added to your dues for each hour less than 8, up to a maximum of $200. Please note that work time will only be honored if it is approved by a committee chairman or the individual leading the work party. Members who are 70 years of age or older are eligible for a work party exemption.
Dues are not pro-rated, with one exception. New members who join in October, November, or December will have their dues applied to the remaining months of the current year and all of the following year.
A current NRA membership is required for all SSA members and must be maintained for the duration of your club membership, in accordance with our bylaws. You may join or renew your NRA membership through SSA at a discounted rate, and the club receives a $5.00 rebate for each membership submitted through us.
SSA is proudly affiliated with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) and the Ashtabula County Wildlife Conservation League (ACWCL). These affiliations give our club greater political influence at both the local and state levels, and they also provide our members with access to additional hunting land in Ashtabula County.
Prospective members must attend a club meeting to introduce themselves and complete a background check form, which will be submitted to the Ashtabula County Sheriff. Once your background check is approved, you will attend the next meeting to submit your initiation fee and first year’s dues. At that point, you will begin a one-year probationary period. You will also receive a copy of the club’s Bylaws, Rules, and your SSA membership card.
Following is a new member application packet along with the club rules. If you have any questions, or if you’d like to schedule a visit to the property, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We look forward to welcoming you to Solon Sportsmen’s Association.
